Town and Country Campground is conveniently located close to Minneapolis-St. Paul. However, this is one of those places that nickel and dime you to death. The $38 rate reflects GS discount, 30 amp service and pull-thru site. There is a surcharge for nearly everything -- pull-thru site, 50 amp electrical service, Wi-Fi, cable, fire pit. Our site was not level requiring a bit of jockeying around and several leveling attempts. The pull-thru sites are not long enough to accommodate a 40' RV and tow vehicle, so you do have to disconnect. Even though they are protective of the grassy areas, you do have to park your tow vehicle (at least partially) on the grass. The pool is clean; the hot tub accommodates 4-5 people. Apparently the owners rent out the pool and playground area to local residents for events. While we were there, a large birthday party for one of the local children was in full swing one afternoon and evening effectively cutting off use of the pool to RVers. The game room is definitely aimed at youngsters. Video games and toddler toys take up all the space. Within the park, the interior roads are very narrow; the sites are spaced far enough apart to allow for some privacy, but, as previously mentioned, not long enough to accommodate a 40' RV with tow vehicle. The following is from the Town & Country Campground website: BASIC SITE - NO HOOKUPS: Daily rate for 2 people...$24.00 ELECTRIC (20/30) & WATER SITE: Daily rate for 2 people...$34.00 ELECTRIC (20/30), WATER & SEWER SITE: Daily rate for 2 people...$38.00 50 AMP ELECTRIC SERVICE: Daily rate...$2.00 PULL-THRU SITES: Daily rate...$2.00 ADDITIONAL PEOPLE: Daily rate...$2.00 DOGS: Daily rate...$1.00 WIRELESS INTERNET: Daily rate...$1.00 PORTABLE FIRE PIT RENTAL: Daily rate...$5.00 HOLIDAY WEEKENDS: 3 night minimum. MONTHLY SITES: Limited number of monthly sites available. All rates are subject to 6.5% sales tax. Reservations are recommended and may be made by sending a check for $25.00 or Visa, Master Card or Discover Credit Cards. We require a 48 hour notice of cancellation.

Camping Alouette is a very large park with many seasonal sites. In general the park is well kept. It appears you can rent tents for camping in the woods, although I expect you can also bring your own. The interior roads tend to be narrow, not very big-rig friendly; however, they are manageable. The site we occupied (126) was a large pull-thru with full hook-ups on the perimeter of the park overlooking the driving range, the frontage road and highway 20. Road noise was intrusive at our site, but is certainly less so the farther into the park you are situated. There are only 4 laundry rooms servicing 400 sites. Three of the laundry rooms have 2 washers and 2 dryers, one laundry room has 4 washers and 4 dryers. Proximity to Montreal is a huge plus for us. We were there to explore the city not to take advantage of park amenities; however, there are tennis courts, a swimming pool, a basketball hoop, a golf driving range. Also, the park sits adjacent to a large RV service center. Although not affiliated, it is very convenient for folks who are there to have work done on their rigs. Now to the last observation. As they say, saving the best for last. The staff was SUPERB. Every staff person we dealt with was friendly, helpful, and professional. All were young men and women (probably college students) obviously schooled in courtesy and public relations and willing to "take the extra step" to help out their customers.

Happy Land Campground is an ok park. We occupied a large pull-thru (site 36) with full-hook-ups (30 amp). Because it's quite wooded, we were not able to lock onto a satellite connection for the internet, but were able to lock onto the satellite for TV reception. However, they do have reliable free Wi-Fi that reaches at least as far as site 36. It looks like mostly full-time and/or seasonal residents. However, the residential area is segregated from the "over-nighters". The park is just off highway 11/17 and there is some road noise, but not terribly intrusive. We chose this place for its proximity to Thunder Bay and we would camp here again.

Twin Lakes Camping in Moonbeam is a family-friendly campground. The park consists of two man-made lakes featuring beaches, waterslides, playgrounds, shuffleboards, laundry facilities, a chip stand, and a "train camper" available for rental. Entry to the park is controlled and the park personnel are friendly and informative. Of the 146 sites, approximately 100 are seasonal. Interior roads and sites are easy to negotiate. We occupied a pull-thru site with full hook-ups. Pull-thrus are very long (100 ft.). The first rig to arrive pulls thru, the next rig backs into the same site. The park is generally well-kept. The idea of staying in a place called "Moonbeam" tickled our fancy, so we pulled into Twin Lakes and explored Moonbeam. Had we stayed longer we would have hiked a trail or two; however, we simply went into Moonbeam, visited the information center and snapped a few photos. Moonbeam's claim to fame is the UFO sighting responsible for the town's name. But, the lakes, creeks, and trails surrounding the town are worth exploring.

The park is lovely and the management team at the park is very friendly and helpful. There are only about a half dozen full hook-up sites; otherwise sites are electric (30 amp) and water only. Two dump sites are located on the exit road. We found this campground through the Passport America directory. Do NOT follow the directions given in the directory. Do ask for and follow the directions given by the office person when you call for reservations. And, do call for reservations. The directions given in the PA directory have you going under an 11'6" bridge which is really only 11'. The park is located next to I-91; however, the road noise we expected did not happen. Apparently people in this neck of the woods stay home at night. We parked our 40' motorhome on a grass site in the upper part of the park, which is quite open and we had no trouble using our roof-mounted satellite for TV and internet; however, the park does have Wi-Fi, which was very reliable at our site. The site was an easy pull-thru with full hook-ups. We would most definitely stay here again.

Lazy River's "free" wifi is a misnomer - only an hour is free. Lazy River at Granville is nicely maintained but not really meant for big rigs. Interior roads are narrow, back-in sites are roomy enough but a challenge to get into. There are lots of family-oriented activities but it costs extra for everything except for the pool and maybe the foosball tables. Parked cars on both sides of Granville town streets makes it a bit tricky to maneuver a 40' rig through town to get to the park.

Sand Springs Camping Area does not easily accommodate 40' rigs, interior roads are narrow, turns are sharp, tree limbs can be serious impediments to getting around the park, no satellite access, spotty cell phone service, one very narrow road for access and egress. We considered ourselves extremely lucky not to have met oncoming vehicles on that road. There is no way two RVs could pass on that road.

Interior roads wide enough, roomy gravel sites, grassy areas kept mowed, children's playground, laundry and showers available, game room available, bounded on two sides by Route 78/22 and Old Route 22, reasonable proximity to Allentown and Bethlehem -- the park is nice, but not superior and very pricey.

Rutlader Outpost RV Park and Middle Creek Theater offers spacious interior roads and sites, a few of which overlook the fishing pond on the property. Rallys frequently occupy the pull-thru sites in the middle rows of the campground; however, the back-in sites are roomy and easy to negotiate. The grounds and facilities are well-kept. In addition to showers and laundry, the park also maintains a storm shelter in case of dangerous weather events, i.e., tornadoes. The owners/managers are most excellent people, always friendly, courteous, and most willing to extend themselves on your behalf. There are no extras such as pools, tennis courts, etc., but the country music shows every Saturday evening are wonderful - great entertainment at a reasonable price. The location is rural and definitely a hike from Kansas City, but there aren't many choices in Kansas in the KC area. There are campgrounds more conveniently located for access to KC across the border in Missouri. However, since we spend most of our time in north Overland Park when in KS, we choose not to deal with the nightmare of city traffic and prefer the longer, but easier drive between Louisburg and OP.

What you should know before arriving at Groton Forest Road Campground: (1) there are only 3 pull-through sites and they are not level; (2) power is extra (20 cents per kilowatt; (3) they accept only cash or check, no credit cards; (4) the laundry consists of one washer and one dryer located at the corner of the park entrance and Route 232; (5) the dump site is located on the left side of the camp road as you exit and when it rains the area you would normally pull into becomes a sunken muddy mess; (6) the shade sites are all back-ins around the perimeter; (7) the pull-through sites are not shaded; (8) interior roads are gravel and sites are grass. We used the Passport America discount and we camped in a 40' motorhome. Wanda, the owner was not in residence; however, the woman who was "in charge" was very accommodating. Since the middle pull-through site had no power or water, she suggested we park across sites. We were then able to level and there was room for another big rig to park the same way, level, and hook up. Because it had been raining and continued to rain the entire time we were there, the grass was ankle high, but I believe they normally keep it well trimmed. It's not a busy park, which makes for a quiet, relaxed atmosphere. We'd stay there again.

The park is easily accesible from route 2. Interior roads are comfortably wide, sites are roomy. We used the Passport America discount; the rate was $13.50 per night for full hook-ups (30 amp service). We did not have a problem with water pressure, so it can be assumed that issue has been addressed. The laundry offers 3 washers and 3 dryers. The pool looked clean and well maintained. There are sites that are open enough to allow use of roof mounted satellite dishes. Overall, the park is well-kept and the owner / managers are very accommodating and pleasant. We would definitely stay at White Birches Camping Resort again.

This park's proximity to Acadia National Park and other areas of interest make it well located for Maine sightseeing. The entrance and interior roads are very narrow, and the campground gives the appearance of having motorhomes, 5th wheels, campers, tents etc. fitted into every nook and cranny. However, the new area under development will easily accommodate big rigs, but getting to the area requires negotiating a winding, narrow road. Much of the campground, including the new area, is open enough to permit use of rooftop mounted satellite dishes. The owner / managers are exceedingly gracious and helpful. The price is reasonable for the area ($30 per night for 30 amp, $32 per night for 50 amp). Overall, the park is well-maintained, but it is an older park, so facilities like laundry and showers are limited. We would definitely stay here again.

We stopped at Tom Sawyer's Mississippi River Park the day they opened after having been flooded for several weeks. They were busily cleaning up as quickly as they were able. Even with the mud and river debris still in evidence, we thorougly enjoyed our stay at the park. As previous reviewers noted, the view and ambiance of the river is worth the price of admission. We did not encounter or notice any untoward behavior in the surrounding neighborhoods. Looked to us like those neighborhoods are home to hard working folks who like to take their leisure visiting with neighbors on the front porch or stoop. We would definitely stay at Tom Sawyer's Mississippi River Park again.
